Maine-ly Blogging Carnival #1

Welcome to the June 26, 2007, first edition of Maine-ly blogging. We have a very diverse selection of entries. That might be because Maine has such a range of citizens. From back-to-the-landers who moved here in the 70's to people whose ancestors lived here before Europeans "discovered it" to retirees who opted to go north instead of south, it's a melting pot. Well, maybe not in the winter. Then it's a freezing pot. But it's all good. And now, to the posts.

julie persons presents Monday, June 11, 2007 posted at juliepersons's Xanga. This photo slide show really captures the essence of June in Maine. You can almost smell the blueberry blossoms. The Maine Tourism folks should put this on their website.

Penni Hill presents
Penni's Homeschooling blog - High School History - Interesting and Alive!
posted at Maureen O'Brien.
Penni, a homeschooling mom says "We can give our students a full, rich, live and interesting history curriculum." And she tells us how to do it without textbooks. I can tell you that it works for my son.

Wil presents Maine Humor posted at wil's blog. Wil is a man for all seasons and reasons. This post explains Maine humor as well as anyone can.

Lisa McCall presents Poor Baby.. Sorry. Poor Sweetie posted at McCall Musings a post about something that all parents - and kids - have to deal with sooner or later, but it's still traumatic.

Matt Harzewski presents Starting a Great Blog (with Wordpress) posted at Webmaster-Source, saying, "Yeah, I'm from Maine. :)" Hmm, are you really from Maine, Matt? Well, I hope so, because there's a lot of good advice here for bloggers and links to other blogs that give you the lowdown on Windows Vista and more.

Tom presents Dedicated to the SNOWFIGHTERS of the MDOT posted at Union Maine.
Geekdaddy's blog isn't affiliated with his union, but it'll sure let you know what this union steward thinks.

zenofeller presents The drowned faithfull posted at zenofeller.com
Note: This is an interesting but R rated site. Controversial and not somewhere you'd want your 'tween to wander off to, but much food for thought for adults.

Alf presents Horse Sketch posted at Taralom's Art. Alf is a young man who finds his greatest expression in art, mostly pencil sketches, although he's beginning to branch out and stretch his talents in other media.

My entry is Land Of the Free (With Some Exceptions) posted at News from Hawkhill Acres. I live my politics and beliefs more than I write about them, but sometimes I just have to say something.

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of
maine-ly blogging
